Gamestop: Hackers obviously steal credit card data

Onlineshops also offer numerous advantages for gamers - for example, their games are often much cheaper and they do not even leave the house for the purchase. For this, however, you leave sensitive data at the appropriate provider - and they are found for resourceful hackers. Now the daddel retailer Gamestop was apparently victims of a cyber attack on its website - and in the same train, of course, its users. This is the result of an article by the investigator-journalist and cybercrime specialist Brian Krebs.

According to Krebs, an external source informed the online retailer about the theft of credit card data in the period from September 2016 to February 2017. These included the respective credit card number of the owner, his name and address, the expiry date of the card and the three-digit check digit On their back. The stolen information was then offered for sale on another website. If you have used Gamestops Onlineshop or just stored data there, changing your password can not hurt. Gamestop himself has now initiated an investigation.
